Dried shredded wood ear mushrooms, also known as Jelly Ears, are commonly incorporated into stir fry recipes, soups, savory pasta dishes, and even salads. They boast a mild, earthy taste and a unique chewy texture that adds a delightful crunch to your culinary creations.

Wood ear mushrooms are closely related to cloud ear mushrooms (black fungus) and are often used as a more affordable substitute for the latter. These pre-cut ribbons can be stored either in the freezer or in a cool, dry area. When frozen, they remain usable for up to 3 years, while in a dry storage space, they can last for up to 12 months.
