Description

Ingredients:

  • INCLUDED IN THE KIT:
    • Powdered sugar for dusting
    • Doily for decorative template
    • Dry mix for 2 layers of spiced cake
  • ADD YOUR OWN:
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • Favorite jam for filling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour two 9" round baking pans, line with parchment.
  3. Empty cake mix into the bowl of a stand mixer.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 eggs, and 1 cup whole milk.
  5. While the mixer is running on medium speed, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
  6. Divide the batter between the two prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes completely in the pans on racks. Invert pans to release.
  9. Place one cake layer on a plate, spread the desired filling on top, cover with the second cake layer.
  10. Center the doily on the top cake as a stencil, and using a fine sieve strainer, dust with powdered sugar.
  11. Gently remove the doily.
  12. Invite a neighbor over to enjoy.
