Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup gluten-free flour*
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup water
- dash of ground nutmeg
- dash of salt
Instructions:
*Gluten-free flours we recommend: Cup4Cup Gluten-Free AP, King Arthur Gluten-Free AP, Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free 1:1 Baking Flour
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Prepare the pan with baking spray.
- Stir together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar.
- Add the applesauce and water, and combine.
- Slowly add the flour mixture until combined.
- Pour the batter evenly into the pan, filling no more than 3/4 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes and unmold.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Top with a caramel sauce or a simple glaze.
