This Set of Six Food Grade Essential Oils includes a 2-ounce bottle of each of the following:
- Anise Oil made from Star Anise has a delicious licorice flavor and fragrance. This is a classic flavor for candy, biscotti, springerle, pizzelles, and many traditional Christmas and holiday cookies and cakes. Anise flavor is also a key element of many savory dishes, as well as in pepperoni and other processed meats.
- Cinnamon Oil is perfect for creating flavored hard candy and chocolates as well as baked goods and beverages. Try it in place of vanilla extract or as a natural sweetener for applesauce, oatmeal, or hot chocolate. Be sure to add one drop at a time, as this essential oil is very, very potent.
- Lavender Oil adds delicate floral flavor to lavender cookies, French macarons, breads, and other baked goods, as well as frostings, fillings, and candies or chocolates. Traditionally added to savory sauces, and meat, fish, chicken, and more for depth of taste.
- Lemon Oil for baking, candy making, chocolate work, cooking, and more. Delicious in lemon fillings or frosting, this versatile oil is also ideal as a bright note in savory sauces, glazes, and marinades. Because Lemon Oil is highly concentrated, we suggest adding it by the drop to recipes.
- Orange Oil is approximately 3 or 4 times stronger than extracts or flavorings. This essential oil is delicious in baked goods, hard candy, gummies, and chocolates. Use this oil one drop at a time, as the concentrated flavor is very strong.
- Peppermint Oil can be used to flavor chocolates, ice cream, candy, and other confectionary creations. Delicious for making traditional sauces for lamb and other savory dishes. Peppermint essential oil is very strong and should be used one drop at a time.
Tips for Working with Essential Oils:
- Essential oils can solidify at temperatures below 59°F. If an oil solidifies, simply warm up the oil until it becomes liquid again.
- Essential oils are three to four times the strength of water or alcohol-based extracts. When substituting oil for extract, use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of oil for one teaspoon of extract.
- Wear gloves and eye protection when handling essential oils, as they are very potent.
